Professional Body-Mind Training
I have practiced bodywork professionally for nearly a decade, having accumulated more than 1,000 hours of bodywork training from premier schools including Esalen Institute and Mckinnon. In 2011, I received a degree in Somatic Psychology from Naropa University. Since then, I completed a three-year training in Somatic-Experiencing Trauma Therapy. I also completed a year-long counseling psychology certificate training with InterChange Counseling Institute. In 2015, I was elected to be a counseling skills teacher on the InterChange Leadership Team.
Over the past decade, I have devoted several thousands hours to the practice of meditation. My father, James Baraz, author of Awakening Joy, is a founding teacher of Spirit Rock Meditation Center. Although I am not currently affiliated or authorized within his Dharma Ocean community, the teachings of Dr. Reggie Ray (dharmaocean.org) have had a profound influence on my understanding of somatic meditation, healing, and embodied transformation. I am deeply grateful for his invaluable teachings. My current principle meditation teachers are Lama Drimed Norbu (heir of Chagdud Tulku Rinpoche), and Chokyi Nyima Rinpoche (gomdeusa.org). I have spent nearly a year of my life in retreat.
